Usage Instructions for Spray and Fix Products
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
- Protect work surface with disposable paper.
- Shake 505 Spray & Fix can before using.
- Hold can 12 in. / 30 cm. from fabric surface.
- Always spray 505 Spray& Fix on the wrong side of
the smaller fabric piece to be glued.
- A light spray of 505 Spray& Fix is sufficient. A
little goes a long way.
- Using your hand, press firmly in place to secure the
piece to the larger fabric.
- A misaligned piece may be removed and repositioned several
times for 15 to 20 minutes after spraying.
- Machine sew in place as usual.
- Cleanup with soap and water.
- Read label on can for storage, disposal, and first aid.
- Test on all fabrics before using.
SEWING:
TOP   |  
Use 202 Spray and Fix
- Read general instructions.
- Place fabric pattern on protected surface, opposite how
your pattern's layout is shown.
- Spray pattern lightly with 202. Turn over and position
on your fabric. Secure in place by pressing by hand to smooth
pattern flat to fabric.
- Cut around pattern.
- Peel up pattern to transfer pattern markings. Use a warm
iron to re-activate glue and re-stick pattern in place.
- When ready to assemble, remove pattern and return to envelope.
- Machine sew garment.
- When using pattern a second time, just position in place
and re-activate glue with a warm iron. No need to re-spray.
TOP   |  
Use 505 Spray and Fix
Work one half of the quilt at a time.
- Read general instructions.
- Roll top back to the 1/2 way point.
- Spray backing in 1 foot intervals for better control.
- Press batting in place by hand, then spray batting in
1 foot intervals.
- Press top in place by hand.
- Repeat on opposite half of layered quilt.
QUILTING:

Use 404 Spray and Fix
- Read general instructions.
- Choose your continuous quilting pattern. Use channel cut
plastic stencils or patterns traced onto tracing paper.
- Lightly spray back of plastic stencil pattern and trace
on fabric, or spray back edges of paper patterns on tracing
paper.
- Position on top of layered quilt.
- Machine quilt.
- Remove pattern.
EMBROIDERY:

Use 505 Spray and Fix
- Read general instructions.
- Lightly spray 505 on the stabilizing interfacing.
- Position interfacing behind the area to be embroidered.
- Using your hand, press in place to secure.
- Embroider your pattern.
- Remove excess interfacing if needed.
APPLIQUE:

Use 505 Spray and Fix
- Read general instructions
- Draw shape on paper.
- Cut out shape and spray 505 lightly on paper shape.
- Place on fabric using the pressure from your hand to secure
in place.
- Cut around paper shape.
- Separate the fabric from the paper.
- Spray 505 on the wrong side of the applique shape.
- Arrange applique shapes on background fabric. Press in
place by hand.
- Reposition if needed.
CELTIC APPLIQUE & STAINED GLASS APPLIQUE:

Use 505 Spray and Fix
- Read general instructions.
- Prepare your bias fabric strip with the seam pressed at
the back center of the strip.
- Place the bias strip on a protected surface and spray
evenly.
- Trace pattern on a background fabric.
- Follow pattern with the 505 sprayed bias tape making sure
to begin and end where the pattern crosses over itself.
Press by hand to secure in place.
- Machine or hand sew in place.
FREEZER PAPER APPLIQUE:
TOP   |  
Use 505 Spray and Fix
- Read general instructions.
- Cut out shape from freezer paper or regular paper.
- Cut out fabric 1/4" larger than paper pattern. If
using freezer paper, iron in place. If using regular paper,
spray with 505.
- Clip curves if needed.
- On a protected surface spray the shape with 505 evenly.
Finger press the seam allowance to the paper then position
on background fabric.
- Sew in place by hand or machine.
